Coding for a gyroscope/accelerometer for a robotic drill

I am planing to install a gyroscope/accelerometer GY-521 Mpu6050 Module+3 for Arduino on a robotic drill. I want to measure the angulation the robotic arm does during the drilling process. i have the circuit diagram from the which involvescircuit diagram and also the firmware for the same. I wanted to know if any extra coding is required for orientation of the gyroscope?
